FITMENT PROCEDURE FOR TYRE BANDS – MOTOR VEHICLES

1) Park and place the vehicle in neutral with hand brake in an engaged position.

2) Loosen the wheel nuts & remove the wheel from the vehicle.

3) Using a valve tool, remove the valve core from the valve thus allowing the air to be released from the tyre.

4) Using a manual or pneumatic bead breaker, break the outside beading of the tyre from the side wall of the rim. (Fig.1)

5) Place the rim onto the passenger fitment machine with the broken beading facing upwards.

6) Pulling the foot pedal upwards, place the ring onto the tyre.

7) Compress the tyre as far down as possible exposing the well on the rim. (Fig.2)

8) Place the 2 half bands into the well with the longer side of the bands facing the compressed tyre. Ensure that the valve is in the middle of the 2 half bands. Tighten both caphead screws ensuring that the gap on either side of the safety band is of equal distance. (Fig.3)

9) Remove the ring from the tyre by lifting the foot pedal and ring at the same time and placing the ring backwards onto the floor. The tyre will return to its original position. Remove the rim and tyre from the passenger fitment machine. (Fig.4)

10) Re-inflate the tyre to its original tyre pressure and replace the valve core, ensuring that it is fitted correctly and tyre pressure is correct.

11) Replace the rim back onto the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts, remove all equipment which is used to jack the vehicle. Lock the wheel nuts. (Fig.5)
